THE ONLY-SLIGHTLY-LESS-WELL-KNOWN OF THE CLASSIC BLUNDERS*

“Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line”

In The Princess Bride (1987), hero Westley (Cary Elwes) and diminutive villain Vizzini (Wallace Shawn) engage in a Battle of Wits to the death. This involves Vizzini using his dizzying intellect to guess which of two wine goblets has been poisoned with deadly iocane powder. But Westley has pulled a fast one. He has spent the last few years building up an immunity to iocane, allowing him to put poison in both wine glasses. Inconceivable!
